Unknown gunmen shot dead a female journalist in Jalalabad city, capital of Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday, provincial government spokesman Attaullah Khogiani said.
"Malalai Miwand who worked for a private radio TV station was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Jalalabad city in the morning rush hour today and culprits made their escape," Khogiani told Xinhua.
The official said efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Miwand's driver was also killed in the attack, hospital sources said.
Miwand is the second journalist that has been killed in Afghanistan since mid-November.
