THE Supreme Court of the Union will expand comprehensive educational programmes on the Code of Conduct and joint training programmes for judges and lawyers to strengthen mutual respect and trust between the two professions further, Supreme Court Judge U Thaung Naing told the Pyithu Hluttaw in response to a question from Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Nay Lin Aung of North Okkalapa Constituency.

U Nay Lin Aung discussed the need to strengthen trust and respect between judges and lawyers in the judicial sector by expanding education on the Code of Conduct and increasing joint training programmes both professions can participate in.

“In accordance with the Judicial Strategic Plan (2023-2027), training courses on judicial ethics and service delivery have been conducted annually for judges,” the Supreme Court Judge said.

He added that training apprentice lawyers – the backbone of the profession – in legal ethics, professional conduct, and modern anti-money laundering practices ensures a cleaner judicial sector. — TWA/TH
