Local farmers in Kanbalu Township of Sagaing Region have finished cultivation of 5,087 acres of corns this cold season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
The Township Agriculture Department has earmarked to grow 5,178 acres of corns this winter crops growing season but a total of 5087 acres of corns have been cultivated since October this year.
“5187 acres of corns have been allocated to plant this cold season in the entire Township, 5087 acres of corns have been cultivated, said U Myo Zaw, staff officer of the Township Agriculture Department. Now, relevant officials from Department of Agriculture are making field trips and imparting knowledge on agricultural sector to farmers,’’ he added.
Local farmers in Kanbalu Township are mainly engaged in agricultural business and expanding seasonal cultivation of crops by consulting with agricultural experts. The department is also raising awareness of fall armyworm invasion in the farms and distributing insecticides for natural pest management. —Aung Win Nyein(Kanbalu)
