A collective tree-planting ceremony to mark the 74th birthday of the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will be held in the compound of No.1, Basic Education High School in Kangyidaunt Township, Ayeyawady Region on 19 June.
Representatives from Ayeyawady Youth Center (Pathein), teachers and students from BEHS-1, activists from civil society organizatios, and local people are expected to plant over 400 saplings during the event. More than 300 trees planted in a similar activity to mark the 72nd birthday of the State Counsellor in 2017 were thriving, said a local.
In addition to the collective tree-planting ceremonies, free meal will be offered to people in some wards and villages in the township.—Nan Htike (KGD)
