The newly constructed education college in Katha town, Katha District, Sagaing Region, will be opened very soon.
“The construction of buildings has been completed, and the college is planned to be opened officially on 18 December,” said Sagaing Region Hluttaw Representative U Nyi Nyi Tun.
“The education college was built on 32.45 acres of land near the entrance gate of Katha town on Lanmadaw road. The project was implemented with an allocation of K100 million from the Union budget for the 2015-2016 financial year. In the 2017-2018FY, the government allocated another K2.4 billion. So, they have constructed classrooms and staff housing. Now, the whole project is complete. Next year, the construction of the entrance road to the school, houses, and school football grounds will also be completed,” said U Nyi Nyi Tun, the Regional Hluttaw representative.

“Those who passed their matriculation exam in the 2018-2019FY have started attending the school, depending on their marks. Starting from 2 December, a total of 33 male and 32 female students are studying at the school with 43 teachers, including the principal. We plan to enrol a total of 200 students. The school was implemented with the aim to train local teachers in order to overcome the problem of shortage of teachers in the country,” said Daw Aye Aye Myint, the Principal. —Lu Aung (Katha) (Translated by Hay Mar)
