A ceremony to hand over 82.2 tons of rice to the local government by the Republic of Korea was held at Tawwin Hinthar Hall of the local government office in Bago yesterday morning.
The contribution was made by the Japanese government under Tier 3 Programmes of the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR). First, Regional Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Aung Zaw Naing spoke words of thanks for donation. Next, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agriculture U Aye Ko Ko and Head of the APTERR Secretariat Mr. Chanpithya explained the purpose of donation. Then, they handed over 82.2 tons of rice to the regional ministers who returned certificates of honour to them.
Afterwards, Regional Minister for Planning and Finance U Nyunt Shwe expressed words of gratitude. Concerned officials will manage distribution of 2055 rice bags to the flood victims in some townships in the region.
