Authorities seized 26.4 kilograms of heroin worth Ks 1.32 billion in Kalay Township, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined security team intercepted a 12-wheeled truck traveling from Mandalay to Kalay near Ayetharya Village in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, at around 5:00 p.m. on 28 June. The truck was driven by Niang Lin Aung, with Zaw Myo Naing as a passenger. During the search, the team discovered 26.4 kg of heroin concealed inside the vehicle.

Following the investigation, Nyein Chan Aung, a resident of Pyigyitagon Township in Mandalay Region, was identified as the individual responsible for transporting the drugs.

Legal action has been taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations are ongoing to identify others involved in the trafficking network.— MNA
