FOR patients with Hepatitis C which can cause liver cancer, medicines will be provided with government funding, as announced by the Kyaikto Public Health Department.
It further said that among more than 500 people who underwent medical examination provided by the department in 2023, eight were found infected with Hepatitis C and medicines will be provided for them with the government fund.
“It is a good plan for those who have Hepatitis C. I’m glad for them,” said a Kyaikto resident.
Hepatitis C can be cured by regular medication, it said. Medical costs for Hepatitis C are very expensive and not all patients can afford it. However, those infected but were unlisted and have financial difficulty to gain access medicines can come to register at the department during office hours, it added. — MT/ZS
