THE Kyaikto Township Health Department announced that it has started free special TB screening for all students in basic education schools in the township, Mon State, since January of 2024-25 academic year.
Students with cough or fever for more than two weeks, significant weight loss or failure to gain weight, and close contact with TB patients are being identified as TB suspects.
Sputum tests and X-rays will be conducted on these suspects and there is no need to worry about the cost as all tests are free of charge, it said.
Moreover, school meals will be provided in all schools with KG students, as part of the programme to be implemented by the Ministry of Education with the budget of the Ministry of Health, from January 2025, it added. — MT/ZN
