Kyaukse, 4 July
Kyaukse Township has successfully cultivated a total of 52,715 acres of summer and pre-monsoon crops for the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 fiscal years, surpassing its original target of 52,534 acres by 181 acres, according to the Township Department of Land Records.
The township initially planned to grow 52,534 acres of crops, including 19,980 acres of summer paddy, 29,000 acres of summer sesame, 3,469 acres of pre-monsoon green gram, 85 acres of pre-monsoon long yellow cotton. However, by the end of April, the cultivated area reached 52,715 acres, comprising 4,932 acres of summer paddy, 44,206 acres of summer sesame, 3,296 acres of pre-monsoon green gram, 103 acres of pre-monsoon chilli, 100 acres of pre-monsoon cotton, 22 acres of vegetables, 6 acres of sunflower and 50 acres of cattle feed.
The increase in cultivated acreage reflects the efforts of the Kyaukse Township Agricultural Coordination Team, which is working closely with local farmers to surpass planting targets. The Township Agriculture Department has also contributed by distributing crop varieties suited to the local climate, offering guidance on effective planting techniques, and ensuring sufficient water supply for successful cultivation.— Thet Maung (Kyaukse)
