Myaungmya, 22 December
Construction of a bridge crossing the Pinlellay River between Labutta and Myaungmya Townships in Ayeyawady Region will be open to public soon.
Upon completion, the bridge is expected to facilitate road transportation and swift flows of commodities, according to the bridge construction group. “Construction of the bridge is once finished; it will contribute travellers and local people to transport goods to other areas. We encountered many difficulties when renovation of the bridge is being carried out. Sometimes, we had spent one night at the jetty near the bridge as we couldn’t catch up the vessels. Now I think we no longer face such challenges,” Ko Kyaw Min Oo, a truck driver plying between Labutta and Yangon said.
The repair work for the old bridge has been undertaken by the Bridge Construction Group-1 under the Ministry of Construction since 1 October 2018. The new bridge is 1340 ft. long and 30.5 ft. wide. Its clearance is about 29 ft. and waterway under the bridge is 192 ft. and can withstand up to 60 tons of weight.—Aung Min (Myaungmya)
