A land reclamation task for Nutgyi River Water Pumping Project being implemented in Nutgyi Village, Kani Township in Sagaing has been about 12 percent finished, said U Maung Maung Than, Assistant Director of the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department.
“The land preparation from construction of an irrigation channel and a river water pumping project was completed by 12 percent and the project is expected to take about two years. Upon completion of the project, it would help local people who once relied on rainwater for cultivation in the area engage in agricultural works, he added.
Construction of the project began in the last week of February this year with Ks. 750 million of the funds allocated by the local government. The entire project is estimated to cost around Ks. 1.5 billion and take about two years.—Win Oo (Zeyar Taing)
