A landslide triggered by heavy rains occurred on the Myitkyina-Tanai Road section near Mayam Khahtaung Village in Mogaung Township, Kachin State on 30 July, according to a source from the township fire brigade.
A road section measuring about 100 ft. was blocked by a landslide near Mayam Khahtaung Village in Mogaung Township on the Myitkyina-Tanai Road at about 3 p.m. on 30 July after severe rains hit the area. The avalanche has led to the temporary closure of traffic traversing the road. Township Administrator U Yan Naing Tun together with officials from the Department of Road and fighters from the township fire brigade rushed to the scene to assess the situation.
The debris were cleared off with the use of heavy machinery belonging to a private construction company and the road reopened to traffic at about 7 p.m.—Win Naing (Kachin Land)
