The torrential downpour caused landslide in Mogok Township this early morning and it left one dead and two injured. 

 


The landslide occurred at Beedaung Ward in Mogok, causing the house of Daw Ohn Kyi collapsed. Daw Ohn Kyi was killed and his nephew injured in the landslide. At the same time, a house owned by U Sun Nee at Aung Thaya Ward collapsed due to the landslide and he was admitted to the hospital to receive medical treatment.

 


Auxiliary firefighters and members of Township Red Cross Association rushed to the scene to carry out rescue operations, providing emergency supplies. The rainfall in Mogok Township was 4.29 inches, according to an official from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

 


Mogok usually experiences torrential downpour that causes landslides. Therefore, local residents living near riverbanks need to undertake preparatory measures. In addition, if they encounter natural disasters, they have to inform to authorities as soon as possible, said an official from Auxiliary Fire Services Brigade.
