Laos reported 2,614 cases of dengue fever in the first half of 2025, marking a significant decrease from the 5,192 cases recorded during the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, no dengue-related deaths were reported in the country from January to June 2025, compared with three deaths in the same period in 2024.
According to a report from the Center of Information and Education for Health under the Lao Ministry of Health on Monday, the highest number of cases occurred in Lao capital Vientiane, where 1,495 cases were reported, while 338 cases were recorded in Oudomxay.
Lao health authorities are urging all sectors and the public to remain vigilant in preventing the spread of dengue, particularly during the rainy season, when flooding creates ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes and raises the risk of infection.
