Local authority seized a large haul of narcotic drugs in Mayangon and Hlaing Townships, Yangon Region on 30 March, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
Acting on a tip-off, the combined team comprising anti-narcotic task force confiscated 100000 yaba pills in a SURF car of Aung Thu and Tin Maung Than near a hotel on Kan Road in Ward-11 in Hlaing Township, Yangon Region on March 30 at about 3:30 pm.
As a result of investigation, police members seized 3.1 million yaba pills weighing 320 kilos worth over Ks. 3.2 billion in the home of Aung Thu in Ward-4 in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region at about 4:00 pm on the same day.
The narcotic drugs were carried from Shan State to Mayangon Township, Yangon Region to sell to young people during Water Festival, according to a result of the inquiries.
Tin Maung Than and Aung Thu were charged under the country's drugs law, and further investigations were underway.—MNA
