The number of pilgrims visiting Zalone Mountain in Bamauk Township, Katha District, Sagaing Region has increased in the first week of November on account of the Tzaungdaing holiday.

After the mountain roads were repaired in October, the Zalone Mountain has been filled with crowds of pilgrims during the four-day holiday in November. The Zalone Mountain is surrounded by forests and has been designated as an eco-tourism site.

Some visitors are also thronging to the Shwenhittawya Maha Bohdi Myaing monastery to pay homage to the residing monk. After visiting the monastery, they usually visit the Zalone Mountain.

Meanwhile, a number of visitors can be seen at the Bamauk market buying vegetables, fish, and local products. At present, the Zalone Mountain passenger buses stop at the Khamoe terminal, and around 65 to 70 buses go up the mountain every day, according to U Ba Lin, Chairman of the Zalone Mountain Vehicle Association. —Kyaw Swar (Bamauk)
