The boat collided with another tourist vessel on the river in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, on Wednesday night.

The boat was carrying 33 South Korean tourists and a crew of two. Fourteen people have been pulled out of the water, but seven of them were confirmed dead.

Rescuers are searching for the remaining 19 tourists and two crewmembers.

Local authorities say the river was rising and flowing fast due to heavy rain.

South Korea's presidential office said President Moon Jae-in has instructed government officials to work with the Hungarian authorities to find the missing people.

He also asked them to keep the victims' families updated.

Budapest is called the Pearl of the Danube for its beautiful cityscape, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Reports say the accident occurred near the Hungarian parliament, a popular tourist destination.
