In the Indonesian presidential election, preliminary counts show incumbent Joko Widodo leading former General Prabowo Subianto. Local media are saying that Joko is likely to be re-elected.

The election is one of the world's largest, with over 190 million eligible voters. Official results will not be announced until next month. But early vote counts by accredited groups say Joko leads Prabowo by about 10 percentage points.

 

Joko said, "I saw a preliminary count. But we need to wait patiently for the official announcement from the election committee."

 

Joko is running for a second term. Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation.
