Pwintphyu, 2 March 

As many as 1500 local people staged a rally in support of amending the 2008 constitution in the small town of Pwintphyu in Magway Region at 9:00 am on 28 February.

The marchers led by U San Nyunt Shwe of Ywatharnyunt village in Pwintphyu township, went around the town peacefully starting from the precinct of Pyilonechantha pagoda to the west end of  “Thantsin” road.

The marchers held 50 signboards that read “we fully support for the amendment of the 2008 constitution”, 20 signboards that read “to amend the 2008 constitution is our cause”, “Joint Committee for amending the 2008 constitution be a success”.

The rally came to a successful halt at 10:55, it is learnt.—Ye Win Naing ( Nyaung Oo)
