Lashio, 2 September
A total of 218 people—81 men and 137 women—from two villages in Lashio Township, Shan State have fled to Mansu Monastery on 1 September to take shelter there in fear of being trapped in the possible clash.
Arrangements are being made by the township disaster management committee, Department of Health, local social organizations and donors to provide the conflict victims with healthcare service, food and accommodation. Deputy Commissioner U Aung Cho and local authorities presented cash and kind to the war victims through Dr Bhanddanta Ponnyananda, the abbot of the monastery.
In addition, the township Red Cross Society supplied mosquito nets, rice sacks and personal items for the conflict victims from 90 households.
