Local people paid respect to the elderly over 80-year old in Tanai, Myitkyina District at Huukaung Hall at Ponkhone Ward yesterday.

The ceremony was jointly conducted by Township departmental officials and volunteers. MP of Amyotha Hluttaw, Township Administrator and officials provided K 20,000 each to 99 senior citizens from six wards in the town.

Next, a ceremony to release fingerlings into Tanai Creek was also conducted on the very first day of Myanmar’s New Year.
