A lot-drawing event for the 2024 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-16 Championship was held on 30 May, as stated by the ASEAN Football Federation.

Indonesia will host the tourney, which will be held from 21 June to 4 July. All the 12 AFF member nations (divided into three groups of four) will compete in the championship. According to the format of the competition, the top three teams from each group and the best second-placed team will qualify for the semi-finals.

Group A sees host Indonesia, Laos, the Phillipines and Singapore, while Myanmar will take on ASEAN powerhouse Vietnam, Cambodia and Brunei in Group B. Meanwhile, Thailand will play against Australia, Malaysia and Timor Leste in Group C. Japanese head coach Mitami will handle the young Myanmar squad.

The team is composed of players who showed their skills in the FIFA-MFF U-15 league tournament that was held at the end of last year, as well as players from football academies. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
