Pagoda now open to public every Sabbath day

FOR the restoration of religious buildings at the Mahamuni Pa­goda, which was damaged in the Mandalay earthquake, a leading committee and working committees, comprising of experts and profession­als, have been set up.

The decision was made at a meet­ing for the restoration of the pagoda held on 29 June morning.

During the meeting, Mandalay Re­gion Chief Minister U Myo Aung urged all to pay special attention to ensure the reconstruction of the religious build­ings to be as strong as their original state and speedy completion of repairs by systematic supervision of experts from the Department of Archaeology and National Museum and the sMyan­mar Engineering Council.

At present, the pagoda is open to the public on every Sabbath Day. — Htun Htun/ZS
