Pagoda now open to public every Sabbath day
FOR the restoration of religious buildings at the Mahamuni Pagoda, which was damaged in the Mandalay earthquake, a leading committee and working committees, comprising of experts and professionals, have been set up.
The decision was made at a meeting for the restoration of the pagoda held on 29 June morning.
During the meeting, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung urged all to pay special attention to ensure the reconstruction of the religious buildings to be as strong as their original state and speedy completion of repairs by systematic supervision of experts from the Department of Archaeology and National Museum and the sMyanmar Engineering Council.
At present, the pagoda is open to the public on every Sabbath Day. — Htun Htun/ZS
