Myanmar initiates the plan to peacefully use nuclear energy in various sectors including agriculture, health, electric power and energy and socio-economic development measures in cooperation with Rosatom State Corporations of the Russian Federation.
Now is the time to raise public awareness for peacefully using nuclear energy. As such, the nuclear technology informational centre was inaugurated in Hline Township in Yangon Region recently to be able to smoothly disseminate information about nuclear energy to the people including students and youths so as to broaden their scope of knowledge.
Indeed, the Union Minister for Science and Technology of Myanmar and the Chief Executive Officer of Rosatom State Corporations of the Russian Federation signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in applying nuclear energy in St Petersburg City on 18 June 2015.
Moreover, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Myanmar and Rosatom State Corporations of the Russian Federation inked two MoUs on cooperation in applying nuclear energy, training and skill enhancement of human resources, and raising public awareness of nuclear energy in Moscow on 11 July 2022.
To be able to peacefully apply nuclear and radiation technology in health, agriculture, livestock, industrial and environmental conservation, experts from both countries have coordinated the establishment of the nuclear infrastructure of the nation in accord with 19 points of the International Atomic Energy Agency-IAEA. Moreover, they have to analyze necessary measures to be free from the danger of nuclear, security, and response in a state of emergency.
On the other hand, the National Research Nuclear University-MEPHI of the Russian Federation contributes to nurturing the human resources of Myanmar in the applying nuclear energy with offers to scholarships for Myanmar students from basic education high schools and technological universities in Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw in order to study nuclear science.
Thanks to the cooperation of Rosatom State Corporations of the Russian Federation, Myanmar will enhance the capacity of human resources who will participate in the construction of a small modular reactor (SMR) and turn out highly-qualified professionals in respective sectors to safely and peacefully use nuclear energy for the State, resulted from the long-lasting Russia-Myanmar diplomatic relations which turn 75th anniversary this year.
The plan of peacefully applying nuclear energy will be reliable for electrifying the whole nation to have better results in operating other important sectors so as to mostly benefit the socio-economic life of the entire people. It can be said that a better future is reachable for all Myanmar people. So, they all have to make their dreams true.
