Malaysia recorded 1,942 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Tuesday, bringing the total tally to 4,808,896, according to the health ministry.
The newly reported infections include nine new imported cases and 1,933 local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.
Another six deaths have been reported from the pandemic, taking the death toll to 36,291.
The ministry reported 2,276 new recoveries from COVID-19, bringing the total number of patients cured and discharged to 4,746,912.
Currently, there are 25,693 active cases recorded in the Southeast Asian country, with 62 of them held in intensive care and 39 in need of assisted breathing.
The country reported 2,393 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday, and that 86 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 84.2 percent are fully vaccinated, 49.7 percent have received a first booster dose and 1.5 percent have received a second booster dose.
