The Gastroenterology Department of Mandalay General Hospital organized a commemoration event and health seminar for World Digestive Health Day 2019 at the Myanmar Medical Association’s Yadanarbon Hall, in Mandalay, yesterday.

 


Present at the event were the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, the Deputy Speaker of the regional Hluttaw, Dr. Khin Maung Htay, regional cabinet members, the rector and professors of Mandalay’s University of Medicine, the head of the regional public health department and its officials, hospital superintendents, the Chairman of the Myanmar Gastroenterology Association, Dr. Nwe Ni, medical specialists, and invited guests.

 


Firstly, the Chief Minister and Rector cut ceremonial ribbons to formally open the event, took a commemorative photo with participants, and observed the photographs on exhibit.

 


Next, a seminar commenced under the title “Early Diagnosis and Treatment of GI Cancer” with the Mandalay Chief Minister delivering the opening speech.

 


This was followed welcoming remarks from Dr. Nwe Ni, an explanation on oesophageal cancer by Dr. Kyaw Lwin Aung Hmu from Mandalay General Hospital’s Gastroenterology Department, an explanation on gastric cancer by Dr. Kyaw Sithu from the same department, on pancreatic cancer by Dr. Min Tun, and on colorectal cancer by Dr. Naing Lin, in addition to health trivia.

 


Afterwards, the panellists answered to questions from the audience, an awarding ceremony was held, the Gastroenterology Department’s honorary professor Dr. Kyaw Hla delivered a closing speech, and a lucky draw programme for the attendees was held.
