Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement is planning to launch the Maternal and Child Cash Transfer (MCCT) project in Ayeyawady Region.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye held a meeting with local authorities, Civil Society Organizations-CSOs, Non-governmental organizations-NGOs and International Non-governmental Organizations-INGOs yesterday in Pathein and discussed the project. At the meeting, Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Hla Moe Aung pledged that the regional governmental departments would fully cooperate with the project.
Following the meeting, Director-General of the Social Welfare Department detailed about the project and the attendees at the meeting raised questions.
The MCCT project started in 2017-2018 in Chin State, Rakhine State and Naga Self-Administrative zone, and it expanded in Kayin State and Kayah State in 2018-2019.
The budget allocated was K 17.832 billions from the government treasury and MMK 5.592 billions from international aid agencies. Before the meeting, the Union minister and party held a separate meeting the Ayeyawady Region Cabinet at the government’s office and coordinated works for social security, disaster management and rehabilitation in the region. The meeting also focused on prevention of human trafficking, promoting rights of disabled persons, disaster management, budget allocation for works of the youth affairs committee and reconstruction of agricultural transport facilities which were damaged in disaster.
