THE oral hearing concerning the case between The Gambia and Myanmar is being held from 12 to 29 January at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands. The Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing for the Ministry 2 of the Presi­dent’s Office and Union Minis­ter for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo is standing on the side of truth for the country, and an event for expressing solidarity was held yesterday afternoon in Maw­lamyine, Mon State, with the participation of ethnic people from across the state.

 

The ethnic people carry­ing national flags marched in procession along the Strand Road from the State Hall of Mawlamyine to the Myitkantha playground, expressing their support.

 

At the Myitkanthar play­ground, the people saluted the national flag and sang the na­tional anthem in unison.

 

Sayadaw U Tayzavamsa and U Zaw Hein stated that they fully support the firm and lawful response, based on con­fidence, to the unjust accusa­tions made against the country. Such actions reflect the truth of Myanmar and are also an important factor in enabling the international community to better understand and place trust in Myanmar. They further expressed deep appreciation and recorded their recognition of the efforts of the Myanmar delegation, which has gone to the ICJ on behalf of the country, standing on the side of truth to safeguard the dignity, sov­ereignty and interests of the Republic of the Union of Myan­mar, and their attitude standing with the policies of the country. — Sithu (IPRD)/KTZH
