A ceremony to inform local people of measles immunization program was held at the meeting hall of Myittha township General Administration Department in the town of Myittha, Mandalay region this morning.
Ministry of Health has set two objectives – to reduce the fatality rate of children under five and to eliminate measles and inborn measles by 2023. First, MP U Min Aung of the region Hluttaw made an opening speech, sharing knowledge about the nature of measles and facts to be followed not to contract measles with the attendees. Then, Acting-Township Administrator U Naing Min Tun explained measles immunization program. After that, Dr. Sein Po said that measles immunization shots will be given to children from ninth-month old to five year and six-month old in the township at the gathering points except children who might be possibly at risk of receiving measles immunization shots.
Measles immunization shots will be given to children in the township from 26 to 28 November.—Township IPRD
