Media and Information Literacy Training Course opens in Nay Pyi Taw

Supervised by the Ministry of Information, the opening ceremony of the Media and Information Literacy Training Course was held at the Ministry’s meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw, at 9:30 am on 10 August. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister U Ye Tint of the Ministry of Information, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, the directors-general, departmental officials, training instructors, and trainees.
At the ceremony, the deputy minister interpreted that Media and Information Literacy means getting the contents from the media and information and evaluating, creating, sharing and using them. He urged trainees to learn the subjects enthusiastically until they can make them practical and effective in their workplaces. The minister also pointed out that trainees should be sharing the contents of the course with their colleagues who didn’t get the chance to attend.
The training course would last till 12 August and 31 government officials from various departments will attend. It is learnt that the following subjects would be taught by the training instructors from the Department of Information and Public Relations: Introduction and Background History of Media and Information Literacy, Framework and Ecosystem relating to Myanmar Media and Information Literacy, Information Literacy, Information chaos (Seven Basic Patterns), False Information, Fabricated news and Hate Speech on Social Media, Freedom of Expression, Hate Speech and its effects, and Verification of Information. — MNA
