The Myanmar media delegation led by Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint arrived at Narita Airport, Tokyo, Japan at 7 am yesterday morning and stayed at the Shinagawa Price Hotel.
The Union Minister and his entourage met with Mr Koichi Hagiuda, Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, at Agency for Culture Affairs at 2:45 pm and the Union Minister also exchanged views with Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Mr Masahiko Tominaga at the MIC at 3:30 pm.
During the meetings, they discussed matters related to films co-production with Myanmar and Japan, important role of restoring films for the film sector development, arrangements for the Myanma film sector development and possible assistance for that sector.
Following the meeting, Union Minister and party visited the Hibiya Library and Museum at 4:30 pm. They then observed the books, arrangement for readers in library and books rental system.
At 5:30 pm, Union Minister and his entourage visited Kyodo News and observed operation of the news agency.
Kyodo News was established in November 1945 after the dissolution of Domei News Agency after World War II. The Kyodo News has employed over 1,000 journalists and signed news exchange agreements with over 70 international media outlets.
The newspapers using its news have about 50 million subscribers. Its online news site is in Japanese, Chinese, Korean and English languages. — MNA (Translated by TTN)
