UNION Minister for Informa­tion U Maung Maung Ohn met the Myanmar Press Council and National Literary Award and Sar­pay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committees’ members yesterday.

 

During the meeting with the Myanmar Press Council, the Un­ion minister said those who do not want peace and stability in the country are conducting var­ious activities at present, espe­cially, since the civilian people are accused of being informers and killed them without any reason. Due to the untrue incitements of some people, the youths who are not familiar with democracy at all are heading the wrong way and that affects their future.

 

The ministry also adopts proper media related meas­ures to ensure the knowledge and thoughts of the people in their daily life. But unscrupu­lous persons are obstructing the activities in various ways. In other words, the saboteurs are obstructing the media activity such as spreading information of ministry to propaganda of their false news. Efforts are being made in various ways despite such negative activities.

 

The Union minister also said that the ministry will broadcast civics education and the 38-prin­ciple Mingala programme soon by cooperating with the theat­rical artistes and the council should work for the interests of the country and people know­ing the actual situation of the country.

 

Then, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein discussed the measures conducted in the region to ensure State stability and the media personnel need to fight false information and misinformation while abiding by ethics.

 

A f t e r wards, MPC Vice-Chairman (1) U Myo Tun (Maung Sein Naung-Lewe) and members reported on their coop­eration work in the fight against false information and misinfor­mation.

 

At noon, the Union minister discussed the information-re­lated matters, a Sarso Beikman building construction, arrange­ment for the young generations, construction of buildings for the arts centre following the direc­tives of the Prime Minister and plans to publish better literacy while meeting the literati of Na­tional Literary Award and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Se­lection Committees.

 

Then, Yangon Region Advo­cate-General U Htay Aung and relevant officials also focused on the selection of the National Literacy Award. — MNA
