Over the weekend, a group of professors and specialized medi­cal professionals from Mandalay General Hospital, Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital (1,000-bed), North Okkalapa General Hos­pital, and the Otorhinolaryn­gology-Head and Neck Surgery Specialist Hospital-Mandalay visited Thandwe District in Ra­khine State to deliver medical treatments to residents.

 

In collaboration with local doctors, they treated 2,287 pa­tients from Thandwe, Taungup, Gwa, and nearby villages on their trip. Additionally, the specialists conducted diagnoses for 55 pa­tients using echocardiography, reviewed 86 x-ray results, ana­lyzed 354 lab results, performed 63 ultrasounds, and administered 250 electrocardiograms.

 

The eye specialists per­formed eight cataract surgeries. Moreover, a patient with brain and nervous system concerns, two patients with ear, nose, and throat conditions, and one patient with bone-related issues were re­ferred to the respective speciality hospitals in Yangon.

 

U Myo Chit, Chairman of the Thandwe District Administration Body, welcomed the specialists at the airport on Saturday and pre­sented them with local produce. Sayadaw Bhaddanta Tejinda of the Theingon Monastery and well-wishers treated the patients with lunch. Specialists from Yan­gon, Mandalay, and Nay Pyi Taw did 15 similar tours last year, and Taunggyi, Pyay, and Thandwe are on the schedule for this year. — MNA/NT
