AFTER the Myanmar national futsal team suffered two consecutive losses at the Belt and Road Cup CFA International Tournament 2019 at the Qingbaijiang Sports Centre in Chengdu City, China, the team’s head coach, U Htay Myint, said taking on international futsal powerhouses was a good experience for Myanmar players.

Myanmar lost 2-0 to Mexico yesterday, and was defeated 3-2 by China on 7 September at the Qingbaijiang Sports Centre in Chengdu City.

U Htay Myint said both Mexico and China were very strong teams.

“My boys gave their best in the tourney and gained a lot of experience. Although we lost the matches, we gained precious experience for the ASEAN Futsal Championship. And, I also want to point out that the losses were due to my team being tired from the long trip, and from playing matches on consecutive days in the tourney,” said U Htay Myint.

“We planned to go to China on 5 September, but we could leave only on 6 September due to the airport road closure as part of safety measures. Thus, we arrived in China on the night of 6 September, which was the night before the match with China. On the morning of 7 September, we played against China and took on Mexico on 8 September,” he added.
