A meeting to seek advice on selecting another township to be added into a list of townships, where people-centered projects have been implemented by Rural Development Department under the ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Breeding and Irrigation, was held at Dwarawady hall in the town of Thandwe, Rakhine state on 16 March.
At the meeting, U Kyaw Lwin, Rakhine state minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Forest and Mines made an opening speech. Then, U Khant Zaw, Director-General of Rural Development Department introduced development projects to the meeting. After that, U Hla Khaing, director from RDD headquarters made a presentation about rules and regulations set for selecting townships to be included in the development project.
Then, U Aung Myo Lwin, head of Rakhine state RDD reported the outcomes of discussions after the attendees separated into ten small groups to have discussions for selecting townships for the development project.
Out of townships where development projects are still to be implemented, Man Aung township was given the first priority and Ramree township the second priority for the project, announced the meeting.
With the financial assistance of World Bank and other development partners, people-centered development projects had been implemented in Ann township. And the projects are under implementation in Ponnagyun and Gwa townships. Present at the meeting were MPs from Rakhine state Hluttaw, personnel at township level departments, delegates from social organizations, town elders and interested persons.—Tin Tun (IPRD)
