THE Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association (MEODA) is leading efforts to ensure there are no shortages of edible oil and to facilitate smooth transport during the Thingyan, and it was discussed during a coordination meeting with the Oil Tank Terminal Supervisory Committee held on 7 April.

The MEODA vice-chair and the leader of the Oil Tank Terminal Supervisory Committee discussed the continuous arrival of oil tankers before Thingyan, efforts to store arriving oil in terminals across the Yangon Region and ensuring no delays for ships to avoid extra charges for importers.

Instructions were given to ensure the smooth distribution of both edible oil and industrial raw material oil. Terminal operators were told to manage oil withdrawals effectively with distributors. Taw Win Ayekarit Company, which is responsible for transportation, is committed to ensuring oil reaches consumers before the holiday begins. A representative from MITS discussed systematic storage procedures. Arrangements are being made for staff to remain on standby to receive incoming oil shipments.

The meeting emphasized the systematic storage of reserve oil imported in April to ensure tanks are filled. The MEODA reiterated its leadership role in maintaining a steady supply chain throughout the festival. Following the discussions, terminal managers explained their current situations and operational findings. — MT/ZN
