Ministry of Border Affairs supplied 1,000 rice bags for the locals in Khaunglanphu Township of Kachin State.

Chief Minister of Kachin State Dr Khet Aung received the rice bags from U Kyaw Min, the director and Kachin State Development Supervisor of the ministry in Myitkyina Township yesterday morning.

Among these food aid, some 800 rice bags will be distributed to 9,880 locals in eight village-tracts along Myanmar-China border and 200 rice bags for 1,808 people from four village-tracts between border posts 30./31. Defence Services personnel, staff members of Ministry of Border Affairs and Kachin State government will help in sending these rice bags to respective areas.

Locals in Khaunglanpu Township encounter shortage of food supplies every year due to difficult access to transportation, natural disasters and bad weather conditions. The government, the military and well-wishers have to provide food relief for the locals. —MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
