Mitsubishi Electric says a cyber-attack that hit the Japanese company last year started at one of its servers in China.
The firm says the infection last March likely spread from China to 132 computers and servers in Japan and outside.
It says nine of those machines contained information on customers and other personal data.
Mitsubishi previously said the attack may have compromised the personal data of more than 8,000 people, as well as information on defense equipment.
Mitsubishi reconfirmed there was no breach of sensitive data on electric power, railways and other critical infrastructure. It also says that key client information was not impacted.
The firm has not identified suspects for the attack.
Japan's defense ministry is also looking into the incident. That comes amid worries the hackers may have gained access to information about defense-related equipment.
