With the aim of developing the Myanmar National League and the Myanmar football community, the 2019 MNL Evaluation Meeting for 2020 Season was held yesterday at the meeting hall of the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
The meeting was attended by general secretary of Myanmar Football Federation U Ko Ko Thein, CEO of MNL U Soe Moe Kyaw, director of MFF Referee Department U Tun Hla Aung, director U Kyaw Lin Htwe, AFC match commissioner U Tun Tun Aung, MFF disciplinary committee member U Soe Myint, MNL operation and security director U Aung Thu Myint, officials from the MFF and MNL, MNL match commissioners, referees, chief executive officers of clubs, team managers, coaches, media personnel, and officials.
First, MNL CEO U Soe Moe Kyaw greeted and thanked attendees for joining the meeting.
He said there were strengths as well as weaknesses in the 2019 Myanmar National League and that the 2020 season needs to be made better by overcoming the weaknesses seen in the previous season.
“Though there were some weaknesses, the competition was intense. The championships could not be predicted until the tourney concluded. The teams that failed to advance another level could also not be predicted,” he added.
U Soe Moe Kyaw also expressed thanks to the participating teams and sponsors who, he said, were important supporters of the tourney, especially the title sponsor MPT and broadcasting sponsor MySports.
The club teams are also expected to get more assistance as the AIA and AYA financial groups are providing some sponsorship, he said.
U Soe Moe Kyaw also urged the clubs to try their best to improve the league and said the executive members are trying to make the clubs stronger.
Then, MFF general secretary U Ko Ko Thein detailed the international competitions in which team Myanmar participated last year, financial matters of the MFF, and youth football leagues planned for the coming year.
Thereafter, director of the Referee Department, U Tun Hla Aung, explained plans for training better referees and new football rules, and MFF medical chief Dr. Aung Kyaw Oo explained the medical check-ups for players and shared medical knowledge with clubs.
Later, AFC match commissioner U Tun Tun Aung explained the strengths and weaknesses of the last season. He was followed by MFF disciplinary committee member U Soe Myint, who outlined the actions taken by the committee and the discussions held with the clubs.
