A first coordination meeting 1/2019 of Myanmar National Olympic Council (MNOC) members was held at Nay Pyi Taw Wunna Theikdi Stadium Olympic Hall yesterday morning.
At the meeting MNOC Chairman Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe spoke of including sports in the school curriculum for the development of sports among school age youths and the important matter and requirement of employing physical exercise coaches in schools.
Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and Sports will soon jointly organize a conference on sports and spoke further on the benefit of holding regular sports competitions in state and region schools that’ll produce healthy and strong sports personnel. As Tatmadaw, Myanmar Police Force and Myanmar Fire Services Department had a tradition of good sports personnel, all were to discuss toward producing good sports personnel said the Union Minister.
Systematic processes were to be designed to increase physical and sports exercises and activities in every ministry, offices, departments, workshops, schools and universities. Performances of sports federations will be systematically reviewed and assistance provided while systematic implementation from all sectors will be conducted toward the development all sports said the Union Minister.
Next MNOC Secretary Deputy Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Mya Lay Sein, Department of Sports and Physical Education Director General U Myo Hlaing and Director U Khun Gya Aung explained about sports sector development.
This was followed by Deputy Minister for Defence Rear Admiral Myint Nwe, Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun, Deputy Minister for Office of the Union Government U Tin Myint, Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun and Ministry of Planning and Finance Deputy Director General U Khin Maung Lwin discussed and suggested on ministry wise works conducted.
Later in the afternoon the Union Minister attended a course completion ceremony on contagious disease prevention and site survey 9-month course jointly organized by World Health Organization, US CDC, USAID, U.S President’s Malaria Initiative, World Bank Group, ADB and URC at Thingaha Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.
At the event the Union Minister delivered an opening speech and on behalf of the course attendees, two explained about the result of field research conducted at villages in Rakhine State, Sittway Township.
Afterwards the Union Minister and officials presented course completion certificates to course attendees and observed the record of works conducted by course attendees during the course. — MNA
