MoALI Union minister inspects development activities in Rakhine state

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo visited Mya Sein Yaung Village Project and Saemaul Undong in Myanmar (SMU) Project in Thandwe Township in Rakhine State on 22 January.

During the meeting with the villagers, the Union Minister said the socio-economic situation of the self-reliant villages has improved significantly despite the state policies to narrow the gap between urban and rural development, and the technical and development assistances. He also called on the growing villages to share their experiences as role models for other villages i their area and work hand in hand with development goals.

Afterwards, the Union Minister and party inspected the construction of Yaysin Dam near Yaysin village and instructed officials to make field trips to install sluice gates and dams in the rivers to provide more fresh water in Rakhine State. He then visited the cattle and pig breeding activities under the Mya Sein Yaung Project in Khayanmaw village, regional development and income generation activities under the SMU New Village Project, and agricultural fields, and discussed the requirements. The Union Minister and party also visited TMP Company’s Cold Storage in Dwarawady Myothit and inspected the packing of shrimp and crab.

In the evening, the Union Minister held a meeting with the entrepreneurs from rubber businesses, fishing and livestock businesses within Thandwe District and discussed requirements for efforts to increase food security and export of the district, balance cooperation between the departments and the private sector for the development of agriculture and livestock.—MNA
