Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt Gen Ye Aung received Mr Watanabe Hideo, Chairman of Japan-Myanmar Association and former Member of the House of Councilors of Japan, yesterday afternoon in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting discussed the implementation of socio-economic development activities for the people at the border areas, the implementation of the Japanese language course on hotel services launched by the ministry and the Japan-Myanmar Association, human resources development at border areas, training courses on caring elderly persons to be continued in the post-COVID-19 period and leadership and management training in collaboration with the Nippon Foundation.
The Union Minister and the Chairman of the Japan-Myanmar Association also discussed the Border Area Vocational Training School (Pha-an) in collaboration with Sustainabridge (SB) of Japan; the implementation of comprehensive border development projects in Kayin and Mon states and Border Area Development and Human Resources Development Projects in collaboration with Japanese organizations such as Terra People Association (TPA), JICA and Nishida Barley Processing Co., Ltd.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister for Border Affairs Maj-Gen Phone Myat, the Permanent Secretary, Directors General, Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Ichiro Maruyama and officials from the Embassy.
