THE ceremony for World Con­sumer Rights Day 2025 took place yesterday at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

Chairperson of the My­anmar Consumer Protection Commission Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn, Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj- Gen Aung Kyaw Kyaw, Depu­ty Ministers for Commerce U Min Min and U Kyaw Shwe Tun, commission members, depart­mental officials, and invitees attended the ceremony.

 

The Union minister, deputy ministers and the director-gen­eral of the Consumer Affairs Department cut ribbon to in­augurate the event.

 

In his speech, the Union minister highlighted the theme of World Consumer Rights Day — A Just Transition to Sustain­able Lifestyles — and added that the government promotes the MSMEs sector as high pro­duction of standard products can lead to a sustainable life­style through a just transition. Being a member of the ASE­AN Committee on Consumer Protection, the government works together with ASEAN countries in implementing the ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for Consumer Protection 2016- 2025 and also conducts edu­cating programmes, market surveillance and supervisory on trademarks.

 

He then urged the attend­ees to work together to ensure a protective, healthy and fine community for the consumers in line with the theme.
