Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han, cur­rently in Russian Federation to attend the 12th ATOMEX­PO-2022 International Forum, visited the Zagorskaya PSPP hydropower plant near Mos­cow on 14 November.

 

During the trip, the Rus­sian officials explained the Wa­ter Intake, Observation deck, 500 kV Switchyard, generators and Main Control Panel of the plant.

 

During the meeting with the International Cooperation Department Head of PJSC RusHydro Company Mr Artem Sokhikyan, the Union Minister expressed thanks for a warm welcome and discussed the close cooperation in power generation, benefits of the visit to the 1,200 MW Pump Storage hydropower plant and invita­tion to invest in Myanmar, and technical assistance of RusHy­dro Group on the study of My­anmar’s water resources in January and February 2023.

 

The Zagorskaya PSPP Hydropower Plant is located on Kynya River with 22.4 mil­lion cubic metres (18,160 acre feet) of water intake running about four hours and a half for 1,200 MW daily.

 

It pumps the used water in the daytime to a 100-me­tre-high water reservoir at night. Moreover, it also gen­erates a further 800 MW and distributes power to Moscow. — MNA
