The Ministry of Information held a meeting with private printers at the ministry yesterday to clarify the rules for printing textbooks for the 2020-2021 academic year.
At the meeting, Chairman of the School Textbook Printing Sub- Committee and Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun, said the printing of textbooks must not be merely seen as an ordinary task, but a responsibility of huge proportion. He also stressed the need to minimize mistakes and weaknesses in printing, based on the experience gained from printing of books last year.
Then, Deputy Chairman of Sub-Committee and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, U Myo Myint Maung, provided details about the formation of the school textbook printing and distribution committee.
He reflected on the printing and distribution of textbooks in the past, and discussed the progress of work on textbooks for the 2020-2021 academic year. He also explained the rules for textbook printing in the 2020-2021 academic year.
The Director-General of the Department of Basic Education also took part in the discussion.
The representatives of the Myanmar Printers and Publishers Association (MPPA), the Mandalay Region Printing and Publishers Association, and attendees asked questions regarding the size of the books and the call for invitation of tender. Officials from the Ministries of Information and Education answered their queries.
