MoI Dy Minister discusses censorship for local, foreign films, series

September 28

Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint presided over a coordination meeting for seeking video censorship approvals by broadcasting companies and content providers of local and foreign films dramas and film series in Yangon on 26 September.

During the meeting, the deputy minister said the private media are conducting broadcasting services in the country in addition to the state-run media. The producers who are cooperating with MRTV seek censorship approvals for movies and videos, and they do not do so when broadcasting local and foreign series with Myanmar subtitles and voice-bubbing in the Myanmar Language.

Currently, there are some inappropriate scenes and words in the series. Therefore, it needs censorship approval. Relevant companies’ heads and broadcasting officials should coordinate with the movie and video censorship board.

Then, attendees coordinated the discussion and the deputy minister instructed the necessary things to monitor the words and scenes that affect political, religious, cultural entities and national unity as well as to avert obscenities. — MNA
