THE sports competitions of the Fifth National Sports Festival took place at the designated stadiums yesterday.
The ministry-level football tournament was at Pyithu Paunglaung stadium, while Inter-State and Region U-21 Men’s football tournament at training grounds 3 and 4, the Inter-State and Region U-25 Women’s football tournament at Bawgawadi and Lewe Football Grounds, Inter-State and Region court (men’s and women’s) futsal at Wunna Theikdi futsal court, and the Inter-State and Region Men’s and Women’s Volleyball tournament at Wunna Theikdi Stadium B.
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Htein Lin, Permanent Secretary U Win Kyaw Aung and relevant officials watched the match between the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Information in the Inter-Ministry Men’s Football Tournament. The former beat the latter 2-1. After the event, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn met with the administrator, coaches and athletes of the ministry and presented cash award. In the evening, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, accompanied by Daw Nu Mra Zan and officials, inspected the rehearsals of group dance of students from the National University of Arts and Culture, Myanmar Comedians’ Association and Myanmar Theatrical Association, installation of the lighting system, LED, sound and electricity for opening and closing event of the sports festival. — MNA/KTZH
