UNION Minister for Immigra­tion and Population U Myint Kyaing received Ms Ma Jia, Ambassador of the People’s Re­public of China to Myanmar, at 2 pm yesterday at the guest hall of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

During the meeting, they discussed the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China and the success of building a communi­ty based on mutual support and shared prosperity between the peoples of both countries.

 

They also exchanged views on the need for coordination re­garding the movement of cit­izens through official border checkpoints, the facilitation of visa and stay permit procedures for Chinese nationals investing in Myanmar, and the repatri­ation of Chinese citizens who have entered the country ille­gally, in consideration of bilateral friendship.

 

Discussions also covered the importance of ensuring le­gal border crossings for both nations’ citizens, effective immi­gration control measures, and continued cooperation between the Ministry of Immigration and Population and China’s Ministry of Public Security in matters of immigration.

 

Also, present at the meeting were Deputy Minister for Immi­gration and Population Dr Myo Thant, Director-General U Ye Htun Oo of the Department of Immigration, and other respon­sible officials. — MNA/KNN
