No casualties were reported after a fire broke out at a monastery in Gaungkwe Village, Myingyan Township in Mandalay Region this morning.

Firefighters rushed to the scene of the fire and completely put out the blaze at about 6 a.m. by using eight fire engines and 7 water tanks. The fire started when a Buddhist monk was preparing for the breakfast. The fire engulfed four buildings and the estimated loss of property due to the flame is around Ks. 6.3 million.
The monk identified as U Vussuta has been taken action over fire negligence by the local police station.
